Mulgrave Road Theatre is grateful to be located on the sacred land of Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People, and we acknowledge them as the past, present, and future caretakers of this land.

Based in Guysborough, Nova Scotia, Mulgrave Road Theatre produces and develops professional works of theatre and fosters artistic and cultural experiences for its community.

Operating in a remote seaside community, we view the world from the edge, igniting compelling and transformative works of theatre that urge us to think about who we are and the choices we make.

MRT has produced dozens of original scripts, many of which have been seen on stages across the country and beyond. The company has made an enormous contribution to the growth of Canadian theatre and the development of Atlantic Canadian artists.

MRT plays a leading role in ground-breaking community development projects; using theatre as a medium to address critical social issues that affect our region. MRT is committed to equity and inclusion throughout our organization and we demonstrate this in our programming, our outreach, and the people we engage.

Emmy Alcorn has served as Artistic Director for 25 years.
