Artist Loft | Studio
We select artists from diverse genres to reside in our loft, enabling them to get away from the hubbub to focus on their creative pursuits.
Laura Teasdale in her own in words:
When I was in Guysborough teaching at Mulgrave Road Theatre’s Youth Theatre Camps I came across a little historical footnote about the house next door to their building on Main Street. It said the house was built by Henry Marshall Jost for his fiancé Carrie Hart, but the wedding never happened.
When I came back to Guysborough to perform in Shadows in the Cove by Mary Colin Chisholm, I took the opportunity to learn more about Guysborough history and to research the Jost and Hart families. I was looking for clues about their relationship.
In May of 2023, I proposed to Emmy Alcorn that I write a play about this house and the relationship of the would-be lovers.
Finally, here I am in Guysborough to interview people who might be able to give me insight into the story and personalities of Carrie Hart and Henry Marshall Jost.
If you have any connections to these two people and would like to share your info, I would love to hear it. Please email me at thetease4@gmail.com and I will visit when it is convenient for you.
We’re thrilled to introduce Andrea England artist-in-residence for May/June 2022.
